MPG (Miles Per Gallon) -- US Standard

MPG = Distance (miles) / Fuel Used (gallons)

L/100km (Liters per 100 Kilometers) -- Metric Standard

L/100km = (Fuel Used (L) / Distance (km)) x 100

Example: 40 liters over 500 km = (40 / 500) x 100 = 8.0 L/100km

Converting Between MPG and L/100km

L/100km = 235.215 / MPG   |   MPG = 235.215 / L/100km

The constant 235.215 comes from the conversion between miles/gallons and km/liters. Higher MPG means better efficiency; lower L/100km means better efficiency.
