About Projectile Motion
Projectile motion describes the path of an object launched into the air with some initial velocity, subject only to gravity (ignoring air resistance). The motion separates into independent horizontal and vertical components.
The horizontal velocity remains constant throughout flight, while the vertical velocity changes due to gravitational acceleration. The resulting path is a parabola.
At 45 degrees, a projectile launched from ground level achieves maximum range. Launch angles above and below 45 degrees (that add up to 90, like 30 and 60) produce equal ranges but different trajectories.
This calculator assumes no air resistance. In real-world scenarios, drag force reduces range and maximum height, especially at high velocities.
